This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I created a new module. This is the only module that I want to give my users access to. I logged into each user’s account and created a new tab for this module. From my super admin account, I tried to edit the group’s “Control Panel Area Access” and set “Can access MODULES page” to No. While the modules tab is remove, this also prevents the user from accessing the new module tab. Is there a way to remove the modules tab and retain access rights to the tabbed module?

I’ve caught wind of an extension but can not find an actual download/install reference.

I am ***super*** new to EE. I can develop modules but when it comes to actually managing an EE site, I am totally lost. My first module had front-end capability where the second is totally backend. How did I get this far without being able to actually understand the basic operations of EE? 😊

    version: 1.6.8 (20100121)

    Hi TrevorScott,

You could create a front-end template (non-CP) that users would use to affect your module’s settings, though that’s getting into How-to territory. Essentially, access to the Modules page is going to be an all-or-nothing affair.

Interesting… I had not considered that approach. It makes perfect sense. My first module included a front-end component embedded through traditional EE tags. For this second module, I left the front-end undeveloped as everything was slated to work off of a back-end interface. EE is really impressing me with it’s versatility. and… the support is rock solid!

    TrevorScott,

    Thanks for your comments 😊

Along with Brandon’s excellent suggestion here is the extension you are referring to

I am going to close this one out for now. If you have any more questions feel free to start a new thread.
