It is fairly new and i haven’t used it yet but was just looking it over yesterday. It does look amazing. Looking forward to hearing from people who have actually tried it. That being said I am in general getting a little tired of the number of commercial extensions required to make EE really shine. Coming from an open source cms as my last cms of choice it is a little frustrating to find most people selling their extensions. Oh well I just tell clients its worth the extra cost if they want to make their maintenance and updates easier in the long run.

You could look at it this way, you could always custom code the functionality and have to charge your clients 10x the amount of what the extension costs.
Hope to hear from anyone who has used the calendar module.

I recently used the Calendar module on a site. Once you wrap you head around all the options
works like a charm.
The only downside I found was the calendar widget and month display html/css wasn’t the easiest to work with.
Also there is an issue with “bridge” not suppressing error messages when error messaging set to off in EE CP.
On the issue of paying for add-ons I agree with previous posts. Saves a lot of time and money
for both you and your customer. Plus you get support from an experienced EE developer.
For many people “Open Source” just means “free”. As a former Joomla user - I can’t believe I ever used that piece of junk - “free” usually means lots of headaches. There is no free lunch.

Thanks for your input.
I know I asked this on the post I made on solspace’s forum, but maybe you could help me with. I bought and installed the calendar module.
The one gotcha is (and I hope there is an easy answer to this), the fact that you can not restrict a group to only post to a certain “weblog”, but in this case, its a “weblog entry”. I tried out two add-ons, and that did not do the trick.

I am interested in this module, but I can’t find a screen shot of it in action. What/How does the calendar look like?

I purchased and installed it on a site and it’s really great. It’s a bit tedious to style it just the way you want it, but once you get around that it’s not difficult at all.
Jose B, I’ll PM you with a link to the site where I used it, it’s still at the temp URL and not finished, so I’d rather not post it publicly.

I only got as far as installing it and creating a “calendar”, which is a glorified weblog entry.
I decided not to use it, because you can not restrict groups to post/edit to specific calendars, which is a feature they plan on implementing in the future (I think - don’t quote me on it).
Other than that, it looks like a powerful add-on.

There’s a few screenshots in the docs.

That’s just the calendar used to create entries, not how it looks with templates.

Ah. I haven’t tried the module myself, so I can’t provide any screenshots. But I assume that one can choose how to display the calendar, just like with the regular ExpressionEngine calendar tag. No?

I used it for a client a little while ago. Client loved creating events. In fact, it even motivated them to recurring events and moving forward. It’s interface is exceptional and easy to use. So that’s good.
However, I went the long way and combined the calendar to much more of EE’s traditional practises because, as many of you have stated, it is indeed a bit of a sweaty pit to deal with custom appearances.

I forgot I could just post a screenshot. Here’s how mine ended up looking after a bit of customizing.
