    Hi there,

I am having some issues with the “notify me” function. When I have it turned, posting a comment to the weblog is extremely slow. I do have 450 subscribers to the blog. What happens is that the page is just sitting there in loading mode and I am waiting for it to refresh. I am using SMTP to send the mail. Is this problem dues to the amount of users subscribed? Should the mail action not just happen in the background? Any suggestion on how I can overcome this problem? Much appreciated!

    Hi jdevin,

Which version and build of EE are you using? What platform are you running EE on (Windows or Linux server)? What are your email settings?

    Cheers

    jdevin,

Are you running any third party modules or extensions?
If you use your Communicate module do you experience any noticeable slowing down?

Yep I am running: Diggie, User, Fabee and Weever
I use communicate to send out a weekly newsletter. The process takes 20-30 minutes to get them all send out to all the members.

jdevin, try temporarily disabling extensions (via the green button in the Extension Manager) before you send your next batch and see if that has an impact. If not, try using PHP Mail instead of SMTP if that’s an option.

As Brandon suggested, have you tried using PHP Mail?
