Frustrated with EE Support

Earlier in the week, I posted a request for assistance. Someone was kind enough to ask me a few questions in an attempt to solve my issue, but, I guess, the problem was bigger than they thought, so they stopped assisting me. I still have no answers for that issue.

I now have an new issue. When inserting information in our Dates>Custom information field, I need to insert a hyperlink to a different trip. When I insert the link, EE automatically puts half of the URL in front of the URL I inserted creating a non-functioning URL. You can see this (scroll down to dates and look for “See Baja Multisport With Whale Dates”) http://www.journeymexico.com/index.php/Trip/baja_multisport_sea_kayaking_and_hiking_trip

Why is it doing this? I’ve looked in the “Edit Field (Field Group: Trips)” area - nothing there. Why can’t someone from EE contact me via phone to actually help me with my (now) 2 issues?

I can be contacted directly at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). I would appreciate it if someone from EE could contact me directly and prove to me that EE really does offer support.

    wcbuckner,

Part of your EE purchase is the ability to post in our Technical Support forum in which us as support staff monitor on a shift basis.
There doesn’t seem to be a license attached to this username. Did you purchase EE under a different license? If so please follow up with .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

To quickly answer your request above. I believe you have the setting Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links? set to yes in your Weblog Preferences

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog Preferences

    Thanks for the quick response.

I work for Journey Mexico who purchased the license for EE.

Turning “Automatically turn URLs and email addresses” off did not fix the issue. It still puts the /index.php/Trip/ in front. I do see that in the Path Settings, The URL to this particular weblog is set as /index.php/Trip/, but I am afraid to delete that for fear of it screwing up how trips pull dynamically.

Why can’t it just display the hyper link as inserted in the field?

How are you posting the link? Is it to somewhere inside the site, or outside?

????? Inside the site, inside Expression Engine, inside a weblog, inside a “Date> More Info” field.

wcbuckner - your HTML looks like this:

    http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=F5QBq4U7

    those & quot;‘s should be “

Maybe it’s like that in your template? (if so that is wrong).

Can you please contact Sales via email with your details? They should be able to furnish your with a developer credit. That way you have access to regular Tech Support forums, too.

Hopefully I’m not getting in the way here but you said that you are posting to Date->More Info field. What exactly is that hierarchy? Is Date the weblog and then More Info a custom field or something else?

Also what type is the field that you are placing the URL into? Is it just a standard text field with no formatting or is it something else?

Also ensure that you have definitely turned off the automatic URLs creation as that is done on a per weblog basis and it might be that you perhaps turned it off for the wrong weblog? I know I’ve done that a couple of times myself 😉

Hope you get it all sorted soon though.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

That’s the HTML for the exact link you told us to look at. If you view the page source code it’s around line 192.

For the weblog your saving your entry to, can you navigate to:

Admin ›  Entry Administration ›  Entry Management ›  Edit Section Preferences

Click on Entry Posting Preferences and tell us what you’ve selected for the Default HTML formatting in section entries property?

Are you putting in HTML into your field or just the link?

Bjorn - I don’t know why it’s showing as that. In EE (in the additional date field), I have entered this exactly: See Baja Multisport with Whales Dates

    I don’t know why it’s reformatting it.

Grad Student - I have “Allow All HTML” selected.
