    Hi,

I’ve researched ExpressionEngine to death, and decided to take the plunge with it.  But I came across something in the “License Agreement” that I would apprciate some clarification on.

Under “Restrictions”, bullet one, it states:

“Use the Software as the basis of a hosted weblogging service, or to provide hosting services to others.” (emphasis added)

Im my design business, 80ish% of my clients use me as their hosting provider (that is I use my server to host their site and I charge them a nominal fee).  Now, it’s only my design clients and not the public at large.  Therefore, if I were to convert my business website over to ee, and I am providing hosting services to others (with their own domain and own ee license (if they utilized it)), would this run afoul of the “License Agreement”?

    Maybe I’m just over-thinking this.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums, kampbell!

What that means is you can’t host multiple clients from a single installation. So long as each client has their own license and installations, then you can install and host them on your choice of servers.

    Does that help?

    Lisa,

Thanks for clarifying that for me.  I was truly reading too much into it!

I do something similar and host and manage client sites in addition to my own. Each client has an EE license so no problemo.
