I’m running ExpressionEngine 1.6.8 on a Mac OSX server with PHP 5.3.0. Only an occasional syntax error, but I’m testing some “bleeding edge” projects anyway and want the new PHP.

I was tempted to try the EE2 public beta until I noticed the Zend Optimizer problem. There is no way I’m going to downgrade my PHP version or run Apache in 32-bit mode or whatever just to make the Zendies happy.

So, like many other EE users, I’m hopeful that the beta turns gold soon, so that I can upgrade. Maybe when y’all come back from San Francisco?

Also, what I’ve read so far in here is that the “full” (not beta) EE doesn’t even use Zend.

Just to clear up a potential misunderstanding here, Zend Optimizer is only required for the encrypted 30-day trial. The regular, paid-for Beta version is plain, clean PHP, just like 1.6.9.

Also, what I’ve read so far in here is that the “full” (not beta) EE doesn’t even use Zend.

Not even the “real” Beta, is what I’m saying. That said, sorry, no ETA for version 2.1.
