Yes, please do. derek dot jones at ellislab dot com. It’ll be important that the SMTP server is *not* this same server, as it would process the email in the same way.

Okay, Derek, I think we have gotten somewhere. SMTP allows the html emails to come through correct…but now my freeform plain text emails ignore line breaks. Word wrap is set to enabled. I think that’s the last bump in the road!

Scratch that, the issue IS resolved. When switching email templates back and forth during testing, the freeform was set to html even though it was plain text source.
So, apparently the issue was something to do with PHP mail after you fixed the line break issue. Should be good now, using SMTP.

Glad to help, rt30000. Sorry it took so long! Dratted hidden configs not working threw the support staff for a loop.
