When I want to upload an image, I get this message: “The upload destination folder does not appear to be writable”.  However, the folder is writable, and using FTP there is no problem uploading files in that folder.

Could it be a firewall problem on the server? Because we need to add our IP for using Plesk and FTP. We are still testing our EE, but so far there is no other problem adding content.

Writable in this case, of course, means writable to PHP: it appears as though PHP is not able / allowed to write there, even if you, via FTP, can. Can you ask your host or admin about the issue, perhaps? What permissions does the upload destination folder have?

The permissions of the image upload folders I use are set to 777 (drwxrwxrwx),
so, that should be fine. The system administrator has looked at it, and confirmed that there should be no problem. But there is.

Okay, my mistake - solved. Server path to upload directory was not complete, it missed the directory itself. It read this: /var/www/vhosts/domainname.com/httpdocs/, but should have read /var/www/vhosts/domainname.com/httpdocs/images_uploads/.
I assumed that was only needed at the url to upload directory, which reads http://www.domainname.com/images_uploads/.
