    Hi guys

I have found an issue with a site of mine. If I try to reset my password through the login page ‘Forgot you password?’ link, I receive an email with the following text

To reset your password, please go to the following page:
    http://www.mydomainname.com/system?C=reset&id;=[id_code]
Your password will be automatically reset, and a new password will be
    emailed to you.
If you do not wish to reset your password, ignore this message. It will
    expire in 24 hours.

Now, this all looks fine, but when I click on the link in the email, I am directed straight back to the login page and no new email password gets emailed to me.

    Can anyone help?

    Ken

Are you removing index.php from your URL? Try this url http://www.example.com/system/index.php?C=reset&id;=[id_code]

    Hi Ingmar

No, I’m not removing index.php from the URL sent to me. I have just tried adding it back in as you suggest, but no luck. Sorry.

Do you’ve got a link to the site? What version and build of EE are you using?

    Hi Ken,

    1. You are doing this from the Control Panel, but does the reset password system work from the front-end of the site?
    2. Are you using any extensions?
    3. I’m not able to reproduce on my site, though I’m on the latest build of 1.6.9. Please perform a version update to ensure a fresh set of files and see if there is any change.

Just had this issue today and it is because I am removing index.php from my urls. How can I fix the problem? Mine takes in the variable {reset_url} and I don’t know where that comes from.

    Hi rebeccaod,

We can’t specifically support .htaccess rules, but I believe {reset_url} is going to be constructed from these settings under CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration :

URL to the root directory of your site + Name of your site's index page + ?ACT=xxx

(where xxx is the action_id of the reset_password method as listed in your exp_actions table)

    Does that help?
