    Hi -

    I just moved my EE installation to a new server.  I transferred the database, and can see my homepage & control panel login page- however I can’t login to the control panel anymore.

    I do not get an error when I input my username/password- it just resets the form. (I am certain the password & login I am using are correct)

    If I try to reset my password via “forgot your password?” link when I put in my email address it says “unable to send email at this time”

    help! :(

    thanks in advance,

    summer,

    Try clearing your browser cache and cookies.

    If that fails open up your config and add

    $conf['cookie_domain'] = "";
    $conf['cookie_path'] = "";
    $conf['cookie_prefix'] = "";
    $conf['admin_session_type'] = "cs"

    Hi John-

    Thanks for your response.

    I tried clearing cache & cookies, then I tried plugging in that code to my config file. Neither solved the problem.

    The CSS for my control panel is also gone. I can figure out how to fix that, but just letting you know in case that is an indicator that paths are wrong throughout?

    Not sure what to try next…

    thanks again for your help,

    Yes, the control panel is up, except now I’ve discovered a new problem—the templates are stripping out all the HTML when I save them.

    For example- at the top of my template I have:

    {assign_variable:my_weblog="default_site"}
    {assign_variable:my_template_group="y_patterns_2"}

    when I save the template it writes that out to:

    {assign_variable:my_weblog="default_site"}
    {assign_variable:my_template_group="y_patterns_2"}

    and strips out all HTML below and turns it to plain text.

    Weird??

    What version and build are you using? Any extensions? You are saving your templates as files, and this is what happens, correct?

    Hi Ingmar,

    ExpressionEngine v 1.6.8

    No extensions.

    Not saving templates as files.

    Yep, if I go into a template, whether I modify it or not if I save it it overwrites all HTML and outputs only text (does what you see above on EE tags).

    thanks for your help,

    slbedard,

    Are you sure this is occurring in the Template tab, and not the Publish or Edit tabs?

    Positive. I was editing my index template when it happened.

    slbedard,

    Can you quickly run our Server wizard on your new server

    Fixed now.

    Turned out to be a security setting issue.  If IV filtering is on they don’t save correctly, if it’s off they do.

    thanks!
