Clearly you are a VERY popular guy.
Ahem. K. Probably not that popular. And because Pascal is a scary math brainiac, he immediately recognized that your number is exactly what you get when you enter −1 in an unsigned integer field. We’ll do a bit of poking and track down why. 😉

Perhaps you could track down my continuing problem too in that case? 😉 I’m still getting my PMs showing as I have unread messages when I certainly don’t. I can’t find any method to the madness either. Currently the forums say I have 2 unread PMs but I don’t have any. I’ve tried logging into the forums from other computers on other networks and ISPs and they all show the same problem so I reckon there must be something up with my account or something.
Best wishes,
Mark

Ack- sorry Mark, missed your reply. On this forum? Yes- I get the same thing. There was a bug far back in the day that could leave strays. I can’t off the top of my head remember why- perhaps deleting w/out reading. Something like that. The bug is long since fixed (you shouldn’t encounter it on a new install)- but it’s a bit of a legacy here for a few folks (like you and me).
It does need cleaning out at some point- but isn’t really a current code bug.
And- I never did track down a way to go negative in current code either. I suspect it’s a legacy artifact.

Can these forums not be updated to get rid of the bugs here then?

So this doesn’t affect new users on the ExpressionEngine forums?

Well it’s quite current as it’s still doing it whenever I log in here;-)

Bit of a shame though as it’s becoming a bit of a pain now always having to go into the PMs just to see if there really are any new ones or not but hey ho just something I’ll have to live with I suppose?
Best wishes,
Mark

K- this was hit during the refresh- and all is well for me. If anyone DOES have an off count still? Let me know 😉.

So far all working fine here now, thanks.
In fact what happened is that the 7 messages that for the past few months it has said that were unread showed up today with the small un-read circular icon next to them. These were definitely PMs that I had already read though so not sure what happened there but now I’ve gone in and read them all again the count is back to zero.
Hopefully it will stay this way from now on though.
Best wishes,
Mark

Yep- same with me. And I THINK it happened due to an old bug that left unviewable strays. I can’t replicate the issue now, taking the same action we’re pretty sure was the cause. So hopefully the refresh took care of the last of it.
