    Hi Guys

We are in the process of planning an EE website for a client who sells software licenses. The purchase process we are after is identical to the one you go through when you purchase your EE license. One of the main features which we like is the account section where you can view previous purchases (license purchases)

Anyone got any feedback on how the EE purchase process was achieved? We are assuming it is not using the simple cart module.

look forward to hearing from someone who can point us in the right direction….

Hi there - there’s two plugins available that would allow you to do this easily enough.  Simple Commerce Purchases from Mike Kroll and SCM Access from Mark Bowen.  Purchases lets you list all items that have been purchased by the logged in user via Simple Commerce Module, where SCM Access is a simpler plugin that allows you to grant access to something based on whether of not it has been purchased through Simple Commerce Module by the logged in user.

I don’t know for sure what system Ellis Lab is using for the software purchase side of their site, but the bit of tinkering I’ve done with both of these plugins makes the same sort of thing possible.

I’m sure others will have suggestions as well.

You can indeed get the same sort of thing running on your own site as all the information you need is stored in the database once a successful purchase has gone through. I have a shopping cart plugin which along with an enhanced version of my SCM Access plugin is being used on http://eetemplates.com to power the purchases on the site. Once a user has purchased one or more templates then they can go to a ‘downloads’ area which will show them all the templates that they have purchased and they can download them from that area.

    All definitely very possible.

Incase you need the link to the SCM Access plugin then that is here on the forums.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
