    hello!

So i have my forum up and running - all is going well. But unfortunately i keep having an issue where the page auto-refreshes every second on the PM/messages page. If I go to

    /forum/member/messages/view_folder/1/

It won’t stop reloading. Anyone else have this issue or know of an easy way to fix?

I’m using EE 1.6.8 and the Grey template in the Discussion Forum module.

Are you on the latest build as well? Are you running any extensions?

I’m currently running a forum build of 2.1.2 - has there been a newer version released?

Also, I do have some extensions installed but the same extensions installed on other EE sites I’ve done don’t cause the same conflict. I can give you a list of what they are if you want, though!

    papertigerllc, some things to check:

    1. Try disabling extensions via the big green button and see if that has any effect.
    2. Are you using an .htaccess file?

If neither of those appear to be the issue, please post a link to the site (or you can MSG me if you’d rather not post it publicly).

    Thanks Brandon.

If i disable any extensions will I lose any of their configurations? I haven’t disabled and enabled any yet out of fear that I might lose settings. If that’s not an issue I will go disable-happy.

We are in-fact using an .htaccess file to remove ‘index.php’ from the URL.

    papertigerllc,

By the way, does this occur with other browsers, and have you viewed the source on that page to ensure there aren’t any meta ‘refresh’ tags? That would be strange, but worth checking.

If i disable any extensions will I lose any of their configurations?

Not if you use the big green button. If you disable individually, yes, you could lose some configuration.

We are in-fact using an .htaccess file to remove ‘index.php’ from the URL.

If disabling extensions doesn’t help, the next thing to try is taking URL rewriting out of the equation. That means disabling or renaming all .htaccess files and setting your index page back to index.php.

I finally got this working. It seems like it was an issue with an existing javascript we were using. I embedded a new header with that script removed and it’s all ok now. Thanks for your help!
