Implement An Audit Trail?

I have an interesting problem. One of the co-authors on our site occasionally thinks better of something he (and occasionally someone else) has posted, and will delete posts or comments.

Unfortunately, he owns the domain, the EE license and pays the hosting bill, and because of that, I can’t demote him from SuperAdmin without causing a huge uproar that might bring the entire enterprise to a halt.

Is there any mechanism by which an audit trail can be implemented to at least document when he does this? Or perhaps a way to make ‘delete’ not actually delete stuff (so that it can be recovered)?

He’s not at all technically savvy, which is why I administer the site, so I could almost certainly implement something along those lines without the political mess of attempting to demote the guy who owns and initially set up the site.

Hmm. Intriguing. I’ll need to look at that. It’s not currently logging the actions I’m most concerned about (deleting entries and/or comments), but perhaps that would be straightforward to add. Thanks for the pointer.

I have not tried it, I just remember reading a bit about it on Erik’s blog.
    ...for what is worth.
