Search not searching custom fields

    Hi there,
    I’ve got several custom fields, all of which have been set to be searchable. The strange thing is when I do a search for a string which I know is in several entries in that custom field I get no results, almost as if the search isn’t searching any custom fields at all. If the term is in the body content then it returns results fine, just not in custom fields.

    Anyone have any ideas as to why that might be?

    Thanks.

    What version and build of EE are you on? Aer you using any extensions? To be honest, it does sound a lot like these fields not being searchable, so you might want to double check that as well.

    Hi there, I’m using 1.6.7 and I’m also using the FieldTypes extension. I’ve double checked the custom fields and have set all of them to being searchable.

    Can you please try to upgrade to 1.6.8? It’s a recommended security update anyway. Also, try to disable extensions globally for a quick test, just to rule out one common set of problems.

    One thing you may be missing if you are using the Simple Search:

    http://expressionengine.com/docs/modules/search/simple.html#par_search_in

    add

    search_in="everywhere"

    Excellent! I was using the advanced form even though I was only using one search parameter so I changed it to a simple search and added the parameter you suggested and now it’s working perfectly.

    Thanks.

    Glad to see that’s solved 😊 Please post again as needed.
