For lack of a better solution, is there a way to prevent EE from converting link formats, so if a client pastes in a complete url to another page within the site, it remains formatted as is? I understand it should work either way, but since it doesn’t, this might be the easiest workaround.

I have tried turning off “automatically convert urls and emails” (though ideally that could be left on) and I still get the result when pasting in a complete URL. It’s server-relative in the source code and goes to the wrong category unlike the category_archive navigation URL which EE writes as absolute (and then it works, even though both should).

Help ... I’ve got to make this site manageable for my clients soon.

Followup: I was unable to solve this strange issue so for ease of maintenance decided to rebuild the site (thankfully not too large) using Structure 2, so no more categories and more logical for the client. It’s now working well.
