    How secure is EE 1.68?

I started a family tree website that is individual profile based, and it displays some “sensitive” information like birth date, place and maiden name.

Even though a lot of this same information is available from google searches or white pages, the “individuals” are still concerned about “identity theft”.

I have access restricted templates with username/password via the authentication in the template control panel. “Member” user can’t get in back door control panel but has to log in to see pages that contain the sensitive info on the front end.

As pro’s who use this system for many types of sites, what is your take on security, is that enough or do people have any tips?

This is my first site where restriction and security have ever played an issue. I’m not sure what I can tell them as I don’t have any “facts” on EE security.

    Hi, rokker,

You’re talking about member area security here; ExpressionEngine in general is extremely secure, and security is one of our top priorities.

For securing content, that is up to you to do and to ensure.  You can place your content in access restricted templates, but will need to ensure that content doesn’t show up on “open” templates.  ie:  that responsibility is yours.  It can certainly be fully secured, however, for what you are asking.
