I’m about ready to buy an EE license, but I’m wondering if I should bother with a license for 1.6.8 or just get a 2.0 license? Any suggestions?

I’m sure the moderators will have more to say on this but if you are ready to purchase then 2.0 does come with 1.6.8 too and you can use either you wish so you could create your site in 1.6.8 and develop a separate 2.0 install that isn’t publicly visible and then once ready switch over or do whatever you please as long as you are only using one of them live at any one time.

How you choose is really dependent on your level of comfort with a beta. This is a true beta, with real bugs that may impede progress or cause some frustration. You would need to be willing to work with our team and do bug reports if needed.
If this doesn’t sound like you, or the site is mission-critical, then I’d recommend starting on our stable, vetted 1.6.8.
