    You are referring to the #x2026; character? Why not simply use a literal ellipsis instead of an entity?

    Yep, that’s what I was referring to. When I tried to put in a … it converted it to … (as you can see in the link that I sent).

    Hi Trevor,

    Which formatting type are you using the entry that this code is going into?

    Cheers

    It’s set to none.

    Trevor, the code was in a comment, not an entry, correct?

    No, it was in an entry.

    <div class="commentContent">
                                                    Rock! Exactly why I made the Freeform Data Select fieldtype.

    Just never got around to writing a…writeup. Good work!
                        </div>

    It’s in there twice, both times as a comment.

    Yes, I wasn’t referring to any issues that I was having with the comments, just the code snippets in the actual entry field.

    Trevor,

    When I tried to put in a … it converted it to …

    To take a very simple example.

    This works if you set your field formatting to none and under your Global Weblog Preferences turn Automatically Convert High ASCII Text to Entities to No

    Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Global Weblog Preferences

    You will need to resave your entry to see effect

    I just pasted the ellipsis straight in

    {tag}
     <li>
     …
     </li>
    {/tag}

    That seemed to work, thanks! Can you help me to understand why that works? How is EE processing things inside of [ code] blocks?

    Apart from a few safety checks (and syntax high-lighting) not much at all 😊 It is meant to show code samples etc without executing them.
