    Hello,

I have multiple forums running through the MSM. I have a problem where I can preview new posts/threads on one forum, but not the other. Instead of the normal preview behavior, all that is displayed is a blank page.

I’m running EE 1.6.8 with the Discussion module 2.1.2

    working previews: smartergamblers.com/forum
    broken previews: crapsforum.com

I did find this thread where a user was experiencing similar problems, though the full solution was unclear.

I’ve enabled php errors (none) and template debugging. Here is the debugging info for a broken preview:

Jacob, are you running your forums through a template?

Are you using a stock template, or something you created yourself?

    Hi Sue,

I’m running the forums through the EE templating system.

I’m using a customized skin, but I’m pretty sure I’ve eliminated that as the source of the problem since the default skin, and a very similar skin that’s working on smartergamblers.com/forum, exhibit the same broken preview behavior when loaded on crapsforum.com.

What build are you using? Any extensions? Can you show us the behavior somewhere?

Ingmar, links have already been referenced. To test the behavior you can create an account, then create a new thread and preview it. The preview will work on smartergamblers.com/forum, but not crapsforum.com

I recently upgraded, so the EE + forum builds are up to date.

Can you please try to turn on error reporting? A blank screen is almost always a suppressed PHP error.

I believe I’ve enabled error reporting but I’m not seeing any php errors.

Can you verify that your server (not just EE) is configured to display PHP errors?  If you go to Admin ›  Utilities ›  PHP Info, what’s the value of display_errors?

It still seems like they’re being suppressed.  Also, what happens if you do not run the forum through the template system?

    display_errors STDOUT

What do I need to change to not through template system? This is a live site, so I’d like to avoid messing anything else up if possible.

    Jacob,

I did find this thread where a user was experiencing similar problems, though the full solution was unclear.

The solution here was to add the trailing slash in the URL

Can you confirm if one exists or not in your crapsforum preferences?

    Jacob,

OK I can replicate what is happening when using the index template for my embedded forum. Let me check with the dev team and get back to you.

I’d swear I’ve done this before, but I used htaccess in the process, which likely explains the difference.  Agreed- it’s behaving buggy when on the default group/default template.  Would you mind entering a bug report- and I’ll update there as soon as a fix is in for the next release.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
