Okay. So, this may be an installation/setup issue. From what you’re describing the sites are appearing like this?

    http://www.biggigaustin.org/index.php/biggig
    http://www.biggigaustin.org/index.php/anotherdomain
    http://www.biggigaustin.org/index.php/yetanotherdomain

    The primary domain is:

    http://21stcenturyproject.org

That domain is running from the public_html directory.

There are two add-on domains that are in separate directories under public_html:

    http://www.interactivebudget.org
    http://www.biggigaustin.org

EE’s system folder is in public_html (and renamed ‘admin’). The two add-on domains are also in public_html; this is the way that the hosting service manages add-on domains, as individual directories with the domain name as the directory name, in public_html. Both of these sites are working, in the sense of being seen on the Web. They are also processing EE code, EXCEPT for the SAEF tags.

So, the directory structure is like this:

    /public_html
      admin (EE system folder)
      index.php
      path.php
      interactivebudget.org (folder)
          index.php
          path.php
      biggigaustin.org (folder)
          index.php
          path.php

When I log into my control panel via the primary domain, 21stcenturyproject.org, I see the “Sites” tab in the CP, and there are the three sites. Each site has its own templates group or groups. I can access any of those sites and administer them or create and edit templates.

BUT, on the two add-on domains, I get a redirect message whenever I’m trying to render any of the templates using the “View Rendered Template” button. I DON’T get this message with the primary site, with its templates. This suggests something is wrong—all the templates should work the same. By the way, I get the same redirect page message when I click the CP’s link “My Site” in either of the two add-on domains.

The two add-on domains are displaying on the Web, and they’re even showing EE-generated info, but there’s something wrong with the path.php in the add-on domains. I reproduced the path.php file contents at the top of this thread.

Thanks for the help. Sorry to be such a pain!

The redirect is normal; it’s because you’re going to a different domain.

If the Additional Sites are functional then it means that the MSM is working properly.  So the question, then, is the SAEF template.

Can you go to Admin > Utilities > PHP Info and make sure display_errors is on?

And can you post your entire template code for the template containing your SAEF?

And lastly, what version and build are you on?

    Thank you for the reply.

Display errors is on, in PHP Info.

    I am running EE 1.6.8, Build:  20100121.
MSM is Version: 1.1 Build: 20091201

The SAEF code is the same in the documentation, the whole thing, with adjustments for the weblog name and template names. Or, I tried something simple:

    {exp:weblog:entry_form site="biggig" weblog="ideas"}
      Name: <input type="text" name="name" /><br >
      Email: <input type="text" name="email" /><br >
      Feedback: <textarea name="feedback"> </textarea><br >
      <input type="submit"  value="submit" />
    {/exp:weblog:entry_form}

The documentation code or the code above produce blank pages, nothing on them. Other EE-tagged pages are working OK.

    Thanks again for the help.

Is that the entire code in your template?  Or is there code other than for the SAEF?

Also, in Admin > System Preferences> Output and Debugging, what do you have set Debug Preferences to?

Well, I was just trying something out to see if it worked. The eventual SAEF will be different than that. . . .

Also, in Admin > System Preferences> Output and Debugging, what do you have set Debug Preferences to?

I turned template debugging on, but that didn’t change anything. If I look at the source code of the page that’s generated by the template, there’s nothing there—no HTML, nothing.

Gary, I understand that you’re experimenting; but I need to know if there’s other code or if this is a fully reduced template. Is there *any* other code in that template?

So you don’t see the template debugging either?

Can you please add this above your SAEF:

    Hello world!
    My group ID is <strong>{group_id}</strong>

    My username is <strong>{username}</strong>

So you should have only that code and the SAEF: no embeds, no other markup, not even a doctype.  Please do that on the template you’ve linked already or include a new link to your testing template.

    Thank you!

Right, I got that. There is no other code other than what I posted above.

I added what you asked me to. The page generated this:

    Hello world!
    My group ID is <strong>3</strong>

    My username is <strong>{username}</strong>

That’s the HTML. That’s all of it.

    That’s weird that {username} didn’t work. . . .

Alright, group ID also indicates the guest user group (ID 3), and you not seeing the template debugging means you are most definitely not logged in.

So, let’s put a login form right on that page and see how that helps:

Use the example code here and set the return to go back to this template.  Then, go ahead and login and let me know if you get your correct Group ID, username, template debugging and your SAEF =)

OK, we could be getting close to the problem, thanks.

I put the login form on the same page.

Logged out of the control panel.

Brought up the URL of the template, logged in, and I got the same info from the login as above: user group 3, {username} not there. SAEF doesn’t show up.

I logged in with my superadmin login name and password.

    Something wrong there. . . .

FYI, it’s not a cookie problem—I just tried it in browsers I haven’t used for this yet, and the same thing happened. Google Chrome, for example. . . .

Are you forcing the addition or removal of www?

Also, what do you have set in Admin > System Preferences > Session and Security Preferences; as well as Cookie Preferences?

    Default values, haven’t changed them.

Please try adding a cookie domain.  ie:

    .example.com

    don’t forget the preceding period.

Do you have any other installations of EE on this server/account?

Hey, BTW, Lisa, are you coming to SXSW? If so, I will definitely buy you a beverage of your choice, or more than one! Anywhere you like. And I know the best places.

Thanks for all the help on a Saturday night. . . .

No problem, Gary.  I know you have a launch tomorrow. And yes, I’ll be at SXSW. =)
