Hey all. We are looking at a project that EE will be a perfect fit for. However there is one aspect of the site that requires users the ability to upload videos in various formats. That video then needs to be then converted to FLV behind the scene and jpg thumbnails automatically created. I’ve seen many youtube clone type PHP scripts that can do all this, but ideally we need to wrap up this feature within the membership system of EE.

Has anyone provided a similar feature? Have you any ideas on how this could be incorporated into EE?

I know we could hire someone to probably write a custom module for this but just want to make sure I am not missing out on any other easier solutions before we get to that point.

I’ve installed both phpmotion and vidiscript which work perfectly. So I was using them as backend converter then adding to EE (video and images in custom fields, or embeded-the programs give embed code as well).

I also tried using php in templates to do the conversions without the scripts, (installed ffmpeg), had some success with some video formats but not all. Images were easy enough.

I’d be interested in taking this further to a module as well if someone can do it.
