I’m thinking about purchasing a commercial license, but would like to try out the additional features. Is there a way to get a hosted demo of the commercial version?

There is not a hosted demo option, to try ExpressionEngine you’ll need to utilize one of these trial options.

This was actually what I came here to ask, so I’ll just jump on this thread instead to say: unfortunately that’s not enough, at least for what I’m looking for.  In particular, I’m interested in the forum module, and from what I see that’s not available with the current trial options.  I’ve been the admin of a Simple Machines (SMF) forum for several years now and am fairly comfortable with what features a forum-specific package offers.  I have a potential need now for a public content site with an accompanying private forum, and suspect EE w/ its forum module might be a decent fit.  But I hope you understand my hesitation at dropping $150 just to kick the tires and see if it’s what I need or not.

It would seem, particularly as EllisLab already maintains a paid hosting service, that a full-featured, kitchen-sink hosted demo would be a great way to give folks the opportunity to try it all out and be suitably impressed with what you have to offer.

seems a sensible request - i was hoping that agilerecords.com would become this, but it is still locked down!

The 2.0 trial contains the forum module as well… just saying.
