    Hi,

I run a website that has a consistent look and feel throughout, but for funding reasons some of the sections of the website have their own domain names, although they have consistent design elements with the “parent” site.

Does each domain name count as a separate site for the purposes of MSM? I have the parent site plus 3 children with their own domain names. Would I need a full EE install, plus MSM, plus one extra?

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question, but I am a bit confused by what constitutes a “site” in the context of Multiple Site Manager.

    cheers, Paul

    Hi, Paul,

The MSM gives you a technical method to have multiple domain names with ExpressionEngine as the content delivery mechanism.  There is a classic, unsupported method that may be an option depending on your needs.

If you want to use the MSM, then yes, you would need EE + MSM + 1 Additional Site for the total of 4 Sites.
