    Hey guys,

I’ve been using EE for a number of client sites in the past and love it’s flexibility. One thing that has been annoying with previous versions is the lack of control over custom fields in the publish view. Before making the jump to 2.0.1 I was wandering whether anyone could tell me if it would be possible to create a custom field with a smart suggest field, such as:http://jamesskidmore.com/scripts/smartsuggest/

And for that field to search/retrieve data from an external api?

    Any advice would be great,

Can’t find any detailed information about v2’s capabilities in relation to this topic.

    Thanks

    Hi, chewwie -

This isn’t available out of the box, but you could likely build a custom field type for it, see the Dev Docs on Fieldtype Development.

Another quick question. In the cpanel is it possible, when publishing new content, to add additional fields on the fly. For example if I was publishing a form relating to music albums, in the title i would put the album name and below I would want to add the track details. Obviously each album has a different number of tracks so within the publish field I almost want to be able to click a button saying ‘add another track’ which then provides the fields to be populated.

    Hope that makes sense!?

    Cheers

Not out of the box, no.  This was possible with a third-party add-on for FieldFrame, called Matrix, in 1.x.  But that is not yet ported to EE 2.0 PB.

    Ok - thanks Lisa.

That’s slightly annoying - will just have to rethink my approach I guess.
