Any way to "shut off" old versions my site?

    Hi there,

I’m redesigning my site using a whole new template group.  The current template group is still “live” as the site people will see but when I do the swap out, I will make the new templates the “default” that shows up when anyone visits.

My question is how do I make the “old” templates unavailable?  I understand I could delete them/export them, but I like having them available as I’m always stealing code those when creating new templates.  I also understand I can rename the template group, which I suppose would make any links to the old templates unavailable, but outside of that, is there a way to make my existing site unreachable, or perhaps redirect it to the new templates within EE (meaning without modding .htaccess, etc)

    Thanks,

    GG

    Hi mrpiano,

Yes, you can easily do this. The first thing to do when you switch over would be to edit the new group and make sure to click the checkbox to make the index template in that group to be the site’s home page. Then change the access for each template in the old group to disallow everybody.

    Cheers
