The EECI2010 Conference in San Francisco will be held from May 31st - June 2nd at the Fort Mason Center.

On the Conference website we have a list of hotels near the venue. We’ll do our best to get some special rates deals listed there.

Please, use this topic to find fellow attendees to share the cost for a room. Some hotels allow 4 persons per room. Sounds like a partEE to me!

Also take note that May 31st is Memorial Day, so don’t wait to long booking your accommodation.

If you have questions about accommodation, please send an email to us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

    See you in May!

    Hey guys,

I have finally bit the bullet and got my EECI2010 ticket. Looking at the local Holiday Inn you can get a room with 1x King Bed or 2x Double Beds for the same price.

I’m coming all the way over from the UK so I won’t be able to afford $195 x 3 so if anybody would like to share that will save us both a lot of money.

I hope to hear from somebody soon, as the prices will no doubt go up soon.

unfortunately eeci2010 clashes with my summer holiday, but $195 is quite a pricey room, I went to SF last year and got a fairly basic room that’s about a 5minute walk from fisherman’s wharf. It’s nothing special, but one of the few cheap places that didn’t have everyone complaining about bedbugs on tripadvisor, $80 a night: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60713-d119640-r4020263-Lombard_Motor_Inn-San_Francisco_California.html

My wife is coming with me, so I’ll be sharing with her. And she *might* have a say about where we stay. 😊

Haven’t decided on a hotel yet, but I’ve browsed around. Seems the average on that list is about $195. Definitely high-end. Might be cheaper farther away from the bay, but then you might spend more on daily cab fare. Decisions, decisions.

Wish my son lived closer. We’d just stay with him. But he’s in San Jose.

Looking forward to more recommendations here.

My wife and I chose the Radisson Hotel on Fisherman’s Wharf (http://www.radisson.com/sanfranciscoca_wharf) which was relatively inexpensive through Expedia. Might be worth looking into. I look forward to meeting everyone!

I’m coming across from Australia and will be looking to share a room. Phil, I noticed you were looking for a share person but after checking out the hotels around the area I much preferred what the Hyatt had on offer.

    They do a double room for USD$203.15/night (AUD$225, £134) :

An oversized double room for USD$223.15/night (AUD$247, £148), or the Business Plan double room with the following extras for USD$238.15/night (AUD$264, £158):

    - One shirt or blouse pressed per room per day (dry cleaning excluded)
    - Daily Internet access
    - Full breakfast daily for one adult
    - One bottle of water per room daily
    - Complimentary newspaper
    - Long distance calls within continental United States, Canada and Hawaii
    - Local and 1-800 phone calls

Is Phil or anyone interested in sharing a room.

What’s the cool hotel to be staying at?

I’ve found that the prices are much more reasonable if I purchase a combined flight/hotel package through Expedia.com, Priceline.com, or Travelocity.com. If anything, it looks like some of the hotels give a better rate if you pre-pay the room.

So what’s the public transport like in SF? Obviously, the farther away from FIsherman’s Wharf, the cheaper the hotels. Heck, $98 at the airport, for instance.

But what you save in hotel costs you can lose in transportation costs (plus hassles).

Trying to find that sweet spot — if there is one.

I was able to get a room at the Holiday Inn at the Fisherman’s Wharf for $195 a night. A good price and good location.

FYI: I just booked a room at the historic Argonaut.  They are running a 40% off promotion right now - normal rate is around $280/night.

Average daily rate worked out to $199 per night (7) for a room with a King bed. The accommodations look far superior to any of the other hotel options within four blocks - Holiday Inn ($195), Marriott and Hilton ($250).

This hotel may be a good option for those of you bringing your better half along for a few extra days of vacation.

I was able to Priceline the Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf at 2.5 stars for $60/night.  This was a couple of weeks ago, so I can’t say for sure if the price is still being accepted.  Worth a try though.
