Kind of a vague sounding out of feasibility here ahead of what might in due course become a formal request in the Jobs forum…

I’m accomplished in a hands-on way with EE as it comes ‘out of the box’ and through use of various add-ons, but my skills don’t go as far as getting knee-deep with custom MySQL queries, PHP or CodeIgniter.

I have an opportunity to follow-up that is making as yet non-specific noises about passing data to and from Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Can anyone out there confirm in principle that this is feasible with EE? I have a notion of the processes involved but not enough to talk sense on it!

    Any guidance much appreciated.

I’ve done a little further digging and found the following which seems relevant:

There’s a Dynamics AX case study that talks about…

Deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX for Life Care required us to integrate two other different systems, namely HIS and LIS, which runs on the Linux (on MySQL database) and UNIX platforms, respectively.

A post on Consuming web services with PHP in the Dynamics community forum gets much more specific…

...we have successfully managed to communicate directly (and securely) to Dynamics CRM from PHP using CRM’s web services. Here’s what we did: We first set up a virtual machine running XP and Visual Studio Web edition which we used to connect to the web service provided by CRM. We couldn’t find a way to easily output the SOAP XML from .NET so we used WireShark to sniff it out. We then used this to replicate the calls to discovery service as well as the crm service from PHP using hand-written XML and CURL.

In my ill-informed way this seems to point at the kinds of processes that would support AX/EE connectivity.

If there’s anyone out there who feels able to comment in an informed way, that’d be great!
