Custom fields not displaying

This is a peculiar one. On my template I have several custom fields all working fine, there’s one however that refuses to play ball and just displays ‘{custom_field_name}’.

The name is definitely correct, and I’ve also tried changing the name to no avail. There are no errors in the template debugging output and the data is present in the database.

What makes this all the more peculiar is that it works just fine on the development server, it’s the production that’s causing problems.

I have also tried creating new fields and I get the same problem with those too.

Please help before my brain implodes.

    Hi, Wil.

Which version of EE 1.x are you using? The most recent version is 1.6.8 build 20091201. You can find out that information at the bottom of any control panel page.

Right, solved it. After a little digging I noticed the copy on that template was also out of date.

The problem was that the production site’s cache folder wasn’t writable and hence was failing to update even when I was furiously clearing it. The field didn’t exist in the old revision hence the problems.

Ah, caching, sweet. Thanks for letting us know. Please don’t hesitate to post again as needed.
