I want to remove the ‘Powered by ExpressionEngine’ in the title of the Forums Module home page. Is there a way to do that without hacking the mod.forum.php file?

yeah, gramps and I were comparing referrer logs earlier after noticing that spammers were finding targets by using google searches looking for ‘powered by expressionengine’ and its variants.  If not already possible, it would be nice to have a way of changing all of those out via the control panel to minimize the radar cross-section on this sort of thing.

I just checked and found the same thing in server logs for a number of my EE sites. Is there some wisdom in removing any mention of EE whatsoever in an EE site?

I manage half a dozen WordPress sites and we’ve gone to great pains hide any mention of WP (for the obvious reasons).

Yes, I think you’d actually have to remove that from the mod.forum.php file. So, a hack it would have to be.
