    Hello!

This is my first post - I’ve been browsing the forum on and off for months now, but just registered and am really just getting into it. The forum has been an immense help!

Anyway, I’ve been crash coursing a range of topics these last couple of months, including PHP in depth, MySQL, and more recently CodeIgniter. My first big project is actually a to do list, and I’m hoping to get a few people’s thoughts on that.

i.e., if anyone is familiar or practices the GTD methods, if they already use a checklist or tasklist type of app - RTMilk, Tadalist, ToodleDo, Omnifocus, etc - and things they love or hate about it, generally speaking or with a specific service.

I’ve already begun development with specific ideas laid out but I’m still very curious - I wouldn’t be doing it if I was happy with anything else out there (yes there are dozens of choices, I know); so far though it’s either too complicated or too simple, or just ugly, which is important for me as a designer. I’m well acquainted with EE and Wordpress, but completing this would be a real milestone for me. Ideally, it would be fast and useful, and I would be able to monetize it, but my concern now is finishing this, which is at least another 2-3 months of focused coding I think.

More typing than anticipated, but yea any general feedback as per the above questions are appreciated. Thanks for reading!

I’ve used a couple of services, among which is TaDa. I loved the simplicity but have gone back to excel (OpenOffice) for a couple of reasons.

1: time registration. Billable vs planned and time spend on everything not related to development
    2: sorting of task/projects
3: Recurring tasks, like server management, billing, tax etc.
    4: tasks per date/date range
    5: Multi user

Basically I want to know what tasks are planned on a given day and how much time is reserved/planned for those tasks.
Then I want to know what time is actually spend on those tasks. If they do not match, I want to know why. Bad planning, changed specs?

Thanks for the reply Rogier, your points make sense even though some facets border on a project management solution (larger than the scope I have in mind). Time estimates and group collaboration are more suited for larger services like Intervals, Copper Project and the like.

I work in a Tax & Financial Services office. We, just like many offices I am sure, are attempting to keep up with the “times” and we have tried our best to become a paperless office. In this effort, we have been attempting to use MS Outlook’s Tasklist to try and manage our ongoing work, i.e. notices client recieved from state or IRS & other things that require steps to be taken in order to reach a completion. Outlook’s tasklist does not seem to be working the best for our needs, wondering if anyone else out there has such a similar need for a task manager/to do list program and can put me in the right the direction of a software that is easy to learn and manage & is compabitable with Windows XP Small Business, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
