I’ve migrated an EE install from the web to my local machine because for template development it was a pain to upload/refresh every time I wanted to see a change. All seemed well until the control panel had no css styling what-so-ever. I found this KB on unstyled control panels and moving the control panel theme to the system directory solved that problem. The thing which confused me though was when I checked the php.ini file (PHP5) in MAMP that open_basedir was not set (commented out). Is there something else preventing these directory access issues?

    Thanks.

    Chris,

The only thing you probably needed to do was update the path o your themes in your General Configuration as they have now changed after moving your install locally. So move that theme folder back where it was.

CP Home ›  Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration

Update URL to your “themes” folder and Theme Folder Path

Rock and roll. Thanks, John, that was the culprit. I might just have to invest in that plugin that takes care of all your paths when migrating.
