Can anyone tell me if the EE 2.0 comes with a WYSIWYG editor? I cannot tell from the video demo. It looks rather impressive but have they made it easier for generic users to be able to publish entries. It looks like it is more for the programmers and admins.

    Thanks,

The HTML formatting buttons a boost, but no, not a WYSIWYG editor.

I’ll be porting LG TinyMCE ad I’m pretty sure Brandon Kelly will be updating Wygwam.

So I take it a generic user still has to know a little html in order to add tables and bullet-ed lists.
I hope the existing bug, when adding a table automatically adds 5 lines above, is also gone.

Oh well, it still looks like it is worth it to upgrade.

    Thanks Lisa.

Good if you can port LG TinyMCE but I had trouble trying to install that module and when I got it installed I had problems uploading images.

I have never heard nor tried Wygwam, may look into that.

    Thanks Newism.

I would expect one of the common WYSIWYG’s will get ported pretty quickly as I’m guessing most clients are similar to mine and don’t really want to be editing HTML.

Anyone know yet of any WYSIWYG editor compatible with 2.0?

I am also looking for a simple WYSIWYG solution for 2.0.  Any news?

Brandon Kelly’s WYGWAM should be available real soon: excellent in 1.6.X already.

I just wanted to voice my own disappointment that there is no WYSIWYG editor in EE 2.0. I have clients who want to post bulleted lists, and I’m supposed to tell them that they need to use HTML? Now I find out that I have to screw around with purchasing a separate add-on and configuring it just get the most rudimentary editing capabilities.

I really can’t understand how the EE folks can keep saying that this is not a feature that is desirable or important. The fact that over 10,000 people downloaded LG TinyMCE should make it pretty obvious that this needs to be a core part of the feature set.

Imho EE2.0 shouldn’t really be used for any client work just yet. It’s still a beta.

That said… this beta version is pretty much complete and read for release. But since most of the add-ons that make working with EE for clients so much easier haven’t been ported yet, I refrain from using it for normal client work.

    Hi Lisa,

I also have to chip in and add that I find it strange that 2.0 doesn’t have a few simple edit buttons. All that’s really lacking are H1-H6, lists and tables. I don’t understand why you went half the way towards it, but not adding the other common tags.

It just makes it a pain to go find a solution elsewhere and install it.

Calan, you can easily add those tags yourself by modifying the Default HTML buttons, or existing HTML buttons on a per-account basis.

Wow, I found them. Can’t believe I didn’t know that. Awesome.

Lisa please, you gotta stop holding out on me, I’m clearly in the derk here 😊

I love that feature. Works great for all but the most moronic users. Customize them per user, too.
