Fairly special case here, I presume:

Over the past weeks I have built a portfolio site for my own design business using EE Core. I tested Drupal, Joomla, ModX, WordPress, and EE Core could do all the things I needed and a lot easier at that. I knew I would eventually need a commercial license but I kept building the site with EE Core. The site is not live, yet.

With the new 2.0 pricing scheme it seems to me that I could qualify for the Freelancer license. Assuming that I do, can I purchase the license on December 1st and then simply flick the switch to make my EE Core (1.6.8) site public instantly while taking all the time in the world to convert it to EE2 later on?

I heerd a rumor (at the EE Roadshow, no less) that EE 2.0 will take a stab at a full-on events calendar.  Can this rumor be confirmed?

Pretty much the same as before, provided by the community.

The first sneak previews of ee 2.0 were great but I also see some things that were inside the very first previews that are now gone.

I was wondering why these really awsome things are gone?

In the very first preview there were also options like <li>, one of the main things I was missing in the 1.xx versions.

Now I looked at the latest sneak preview and these buttons are gone :(

+02: File manager
Also in the very first preview when clicking an image in the file manager, you would see a preview of it on the right side, and also the possibility to download them.

When I look at the latest preview also these things are gone :(

What happend with these things, these features looked really awsome!
I hope that these features are still in it and that the preview we see right now is not the latest build.

They are still there, but not part of the default set. They can be added with a single click, and are pre-defined within EE 2.0.

That is still in there, and you can see them in the preview video labeled as download.

You will be able to download the most recent version of ExpressionEngine 2.x purchased, including paid upgrades, for one year after the purchase date.

Does that mean that after one year after the last purchased upgrade:

a) the license to use terminates
b) access to the download area ceases
c) download access is limited to the last licensed version

Access to that particular download will cease.  When you choose to upgrade, you will have access to the new download for that licensed product for an additional year.

To be absolutely clear about this: Does the license to use the last paid version terminate as well? Or does it remain perpetual as it is right now?

I have a funny idea this will get batted down as a “feature” question, but thought I’d ask anyway.
I noticed in the screen cast that “Save Template as File” is missing from the template prefs inline dialog.

I expect the mechanism for doing this has been moved, but can you assure us that use of external template text files will still be supported in EE 2?

No “full-on events calendar” in EE 2.0.

It remains perpetual as it is right now. We’re referring strictly to download access, not renewing a license or anything like that.

Once you make the license purchase you are free to use the version of EE you purchased forever. You have download access to the version purchased for 1 year. If you pay for an upgrade, the year resets, starting a new year of download access for the version you upgraded to.
