    Hi EE gurus,

I want to direct people to the Simple commerce module after they register, because full membership requires payment.

I’ve been through all the threads here about redirecting after reg, creating a standalone reg form, even modifying core files (for a simple redirect? Eeeek), and nothing is working.  When a user registers, they get the static thanks page, and nothing more.

Is there any more info on how to get this working?  It shouldn’t be so hard, right?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick answer!  I don’t think that’s quite it, though.  Registered, logged-in users are fine—it’s only people who have just registered that I need to redirect.  This extension seems to apply to all users.

    Hi suenovo,

Does Russ’s suggestion do what you need?

    Cheers

    Greg

    @Russ, Thanks for the help.

    Thanks Russ and Greg,
Unfortunately, a newly registered user will still get directed to the static Thank You page with either of these extensions.  Twomile is a little closer to solving the problem, because I can have conditional text on the redirect page—members_paid get the member stuff, and members_pending are prompted to pay and check out, no matter how many times they log in.

But there’s still the problem of redirecting them.  If they land on that static page that basically says “Thanks, you’re all done!”, they won’t check out, and they’ll get confused.

    Make sense?

How does this not solve your problem? Instead of conditional text why not add 2 different instances of the Redirect plugin instead?

It seems, and please correct me if I’m wrong, that the static “Thanks for registering” message isn’t a page I can insert code into, but just a message cobbled together in the core files.

    suenovo,

That is true, you are limited to a certain number of tags, but not exactly cobbled together either. you can edit the template here

CP Home ›  Admin ›  Specialty Templates ›  User Message Template

At this stage you can gather this is not possible without some sort of add-on.
I can move this to the How to forum if you wish to have some more interaction with the community?

2 more plugins for you that may help

    Devot://EE : Activation Redirect

    Devot://EE : User Registration Redirect
