    Hi Greg.

I have a few options active under the Optimize tab. BrowserFriendly, SmartFeed, and FeedFlare.

I did just try to set up the Title burner option, figuring if there was a title problem with the link I could just get around it. When I added a new title, I again got the error:

The URL does not appear to reference a valid XML file.

Wish that error message was more descriptive.

    Hi SarahW,

Well, the w3.org Feed Validator does say your feed is ok. Please try disabling the options under the Optimize tab since they may be manipulating the feed in a way that is causing the error.

    Cheers

    Greg

Wow. I was just validating my feed up and own the joint, too. W3 said I was fine, and even the “troubleshootize” says I’m ok.

But when I try to deactivate any of the Optimize options, I get the XML error and can’t disable any of them.

DAMN YOU FEEDBURNER. My kingdom for an error message that is more descriptive (not that my kingdom amounts to much more than laundry, but still….)

    Hi SarahW,

Okay. Can you confirm whether or not you did upgrade your site?

    Cheers

    Hi SarahW,

Okay. Can I ask you to please set up another feed template for your weblog using the RSS template and registering that with Feedburner. Let’s see if the same error occurs.

    Cheers

    Greg

OK - I created another feed and I can modify the parenthesis with no problems. Oh boy. I’m sort of at a loss of what to do next to correct the original. Any ideas? Or do I ask people to migrate over to the new one?

After playing around, the new RSS-TEST based on the RSS_2 feed works fine.

But if I switch it to this url:

    http://www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/rss_atom/

the Feedburner says no valid XML. I’m going to try putting the Atom code from the Template Library in to see if that makes it happy.

Well, no more error. No more entries in the feed, either.

You should see the size of the dent in my desk surface. It’s rather head-shaped.

    Sarah,

Well, no more error. No more entries in the feed, either.

When you copied and paste the Atom feed in, did you make sure to change the master_weblog_name to your own weblog?

Also that if you have custom fields other than {body} {extended}, to make sure and switch in your own.

I woke up to exactly the same problem - removing the () from Feedburner’s Configure Stats > Track clicks as a traffic source in Google Analytics > Customise box instantly fixed it.

    Hi John:

I’m a hot pile of moron this morning (need more coffee). I did switch the master_weblog_name to my own weblog name, but the feed is still not showing any entries. I don’t have any custom fields that would need to be in the field, so I’m still flailing at it. Any more suggestions, please send them my way.

I love Expression Engine - I really do. It’s a powerful piece of software, but wow. Times like this it makes me feel epic stupid because I know it’s some little thing I’m missing.

Ohhh.. I beg to differ. Luv the romance cover. 😊

In other words, I see the feed inside of Firefox on my Mac.

    HOORAY!

Thank you, guys for your help. I really appreciate your time and patience, especially when I get confused and boneheaded about RSS intricacies.

And isn’t that cover just… AMAZING? Poor man. That wolf ran away with more than just his spoon.
