Rip off of EE homepage... or is it?

A client of mine recently showed me the work another design company has done on their site. It looked very nice, then I remembered why. It’s an almost verbatim copy of the EE home page, right down to the icons.

I’m not an EE user, but I can’t imagine that the EE design is even released as a template, is it?

I won’t post links here, but advice would be appreciated. I’d like to save my client from potential heartache if that’s the case.

No, our website has most definitely not been released as a template. It’s our design and, as such, intellectual property. You might want to send a link to one of the moderators or Lisa Wess, who will take care of things.

    I thought as much.

I’ll deal with it at my end I think, and get my client to approach the design company directly.
If you think this is serious-enough, by all means post back here, but I’d rather take a gentle approach if it can easily be sorted out.

    Cheers,
    Dave

We’ve had this issue a few times before. We, too, tend not to bring the lawyers in the first time around. Usually pointing out the possibility and politely asking for a change in design is all it takes. If you or your client takes care of the issue, that’s fine.
