If I have the parameter disable=“categories” in my weblog entries tag, does that mean that the category parameter in that same tag will not work? Or does that mean that I cannot use the {categories}{/categories} variable pair within that entries tag? Or both…?

And if I have only the disable=“category_fields” parameter set, then I’m guessing that means I cannot show any category fields, which simply means that the {categories}{/categories} variable pair is disabled.

Anyone who’s facile with what these parameters do, please help clarify. Thanks!

    Hi nadea.c,

Disabling categories will ignore any data about the categories themselves and that includes category fields. The category parameter will work and will get entries in the specified category - it just wouldn’t show any category related information.

    Cheers

Thanks, Greg. So then, if I only have “category_fields” disabled, but not “categories”, what data about the categories inside of a weblog entries tag would there be to get?

    nadea.c,

You will still be able to get category name, description, all the ids, URL titles etc, just not the category custom field information.

I think you may be confusing custom category fields with general category variables.

That makes sense. Yeah, I wasn’t sure because there are category fields that aren’t custom fields, and the EE docs for the disable parameter don’t say specifically.

    Thanks for the help!
