Three cheers for EE + EE Insider, it’s been a great weeks reading 😉

I couldn’t agree more!  Very exciting times!

This is the best news I’ve heard all week!

I’ve got a personal site that I’ve been working on for a few months. Now that EE 2 is coming out in December I’ll be able to launch before the end of the year (I’ve had my content and XHTML templates done for quite some time now).

    😊 😊 😊

Perfect timing. Thank you for this early christmas present.
On the other hand - this will definitely destroy my christmas holiday 😉

I realize pricing is still up in the air but I noticed the lack of a Core version being made available.  While I now have a Personal license I learned EE using the Core version first and I don’t think I ever would have without it (probably bungled my way through WP instead).  Is this just an oversight in the article or has EE dropped the Core version?

    From the interview with Les:

This is one of the last decisions we have to make regarding the primary license types. Right now, we’re pretty certain there will be no free Core version of 2.0.

He also offers a way to potentially save the core version, so make sure to read that section in it’s entirety.

Tech question: Will the database schema be changing much in 2.0?

I’m planning to write a bunch of manual SQL scripts to insert common default data, but if the schema will be changing in 2.0 then I’ll hold off.

Yes, the schema changes quite a bit.
