I have thousands of members and am worried someone could upload an x-rated avatar on my family friendly site. Is there any way to require approval by super admin for every uploaded avatar before the avatar is able to be used?

One way I could think of is using a condition to display it.
Custom field in profile that is only visible to admin(Is this field visible in public profiles?[y/n]) and not there on reigstration…then in member profile page that displays it use the condition:
if {approved_avatar}= '1'
show avatar code…
else
message…other image.

That would work but there is no easy way for the admin to know what users have uploaded an avatar. Too much work going through the CP looking at 5,000+ members to see who has an avatar. Also users can change avatars. So if I already have the switch set to approved, then any avatar they change to after that will display.
What would be cool:
Members add / change avatar image. (Avatars do not display anywhere else on site)
Super Admins control panel states (x) new avatar[s] need approval with a link to a page showing avatar[s].
Super Admin can select all avatars they wish to approve / dis-approve. Avatars to be approved are clicked on once then admin clicks approve selected button.
Approved avatars can then display site wide.
This should work the same with with member photos.
This would prevent any unwanted images members can upload from appearing on the site.
Should I submit a feature request? Or this would probably make a good module / extension.

know what users have uploaded an avatar
you could run a sql query/page with php to have them listed.
Also users can change avatars
This would be an issue even with approve y/n switch you still have to moderate it much like comments. Perhaps having an additional switch of haw many times users can change avatar….after all you don’t want to do this million times for same users.
😛
How about an alternative?...“Report Avatar” link in member profile?
Essentially ‘tell-a-friend’ with super admin as recipient or just ‘contact form’.
It could make for an extension/module but I never made one 😊
