That the White House would dump ExpressionEngine for Drupal

Whitehouse.gov never ran on EE, I believe it was an ASP site when it first launched.

Correct it was http://www.change.gov that ran on ExpressionEngine for a while wasn’t it?

Change.gov is still up and running on EE.

Not everyone is convinced, check out this Slate article:

“Running the White House Web site on Drupal is a political disaster.” - By Chris Wilson - Slate Magazine:

Anyhoow .. I’m sure they will get some hardcore Drupal devs on it, custimize the h*** out of it, and that the site will be great on Drupal! 😊

Don’t forget the EE license is very prohibitive in what you can do. You really can’t create user generated blogs which seem to be at the base of why you’d want to create groups. What’s good is a group if you can’t consistently post content and monitor comments. That breaks the EE license. Any thoughts?

AFAIK, this point in the license is changing - read what Leslie says here:

Don’t assume Sock read it for yourself,

As you can see from this thread posted by BjornBjorn (thanks)

I speak the truth! I must say I didn’t know this particular thread existed so I’m glad to see that that EllisLab is revisiting their position. That’s great news, maybe better than the 2.0 release (just my two cents). In case Leslie is reading this, thanks for being proactive on this issue, can’t wait to see what evolves from the discussion.
