I enabled error checking and get the following error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /homepages/xxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxxxxx/system/cp/cp.display.php on line 1386
Does anyone have any idea where I should begin to troubleshoot?

What version and build of EE are you using?

we have 1.6.8 installed.

Francis,
You might want to re-upload your EE files, so to rule out file corruption.
Do not reinstall EE (do not run install.php), just re-upload your files.
Basically, the way you’d do with a build update.
Be sure to make & verify a db backup for piece of mind.
