Can view weblog entries authored by others - no

With that set, where is the user seeing the entries?  On the front-end? Or in the back-end Edit Tab?

he sees everything in the backend

(the frontend is just SAEF and has nothing to do with the settings)

Ronin_23, as Lisa said, it seems like ExpressionEngine is doing what you tell it to.  I’d recommend checking out the publish plus addon to see if that will achieve the workflow you are wanting.

Greg, I had a look in the docs at http://expressionengine.com/docs/cp/admin/members_and_groups/member_groups_edit.html

Can view weblog entries authored by others

Determines whether a member of the group is allowed to view weblog entries that have been authored by someone else. Note: One entries within weblogs assigned to the user (see below) apply.

An author can view entries by other authors, though the setting does not allow it.

I don’t understand why this should be correct? 😊

Ronin_23, can you get a screen shot of where the member can see the entries by other authors. Is it on the initial screen when you open the control panel?

OK, the first screen shot doesn’t have can edit, but the second one does.

Shouldn’t that second one be set to have can edit set to No?

Yes, because the SAEF doesn’t work with edit - no

Editors have no special priviliges to select a promo.
    The priviliges are
Can view weblog entries authored by others - no
Can edit entries authored by others - no
Can change the author name when posting weblog entries - no

    So far BEFORE the update.

    AFTER the update they get
    “You don’t have the privileges”

    I have to set
Can edit entries authored by others - yes
Can change the author name when posting weblog entries - yes

Only with both on “yes” they can select promos.

I had a look in an old sql backup, they never had priviliges and it worked.

Does EE work properly when the edit tab shows entries authored by others, though it is not allowed?

    Hi, Ronin -

Just to let you know that the development team is reviewing this and we’ll get back to you with more information as soon as that review has been done.

    Thank you!

    Hi, Ronin,

Thank you for working with us on this.

At this point, “Can Edit Entries authored by others” being set to yes will trump “Can View Entries authored by others” being set to no.  In other words, granting Edit permissions will also mean that member group can see those entries.

If you would like to see this changed in the future then I would encourage you to post a feature request telling us your story and what your needs are.

    Thank you.
