    Hi

I’ve done a brand new install of EE 1.6.8 on a Windows server and then installed the forum. All I get when I go to the forum is the ‘Unable to locate the following forum theme file’ error. I’ve checked all the forum posts about this issue and have tried the fixes mentioned in those posts without any luck. I’ve downloaded the files again and uploaded to the server with various FTP apps in various formats. The files are there in the correct folder (/themes/forum_themes/default/theme_index.php) and I can get directly to them via a browser. Permissions are correct but its tricky with a Windows server on shared hosting but I guess they must be ok as everything else in the site is working fine. I’ve checked paths and I think they’re all correct.

The page in question is here…http://www.themca.org.uk/index2.php?/forums/

“URL Segment Support” is not available on the server so force query strings is set to yes.

And it happens to all of the themes that come with the forums, its not specific to any one of them so i think it must be a bad path somewhere but I just can’t figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks
    Paul

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, Paul.

Before we get started with any troubleshooting.. did you also install the most recent forum version too?

    Hi Sue

Yes, downloaded a few days ago (EE_Forum_2.1.2) so the very latest version.

    Good. Next question:

Do you see all the graphics OK in your EE back end? In other words, are the paths set correctly for your themes folder?

There are two different paths to check.

Admin ›  System Preferences ›  General Configuration

Look for URL to your “themes” folder
    -and-
    Theme Folder Path

Yes, all graphics for the backend are fine and the paths in the preferences look correct.

Sorry Sue, those are my initials! I was just testing some of the php code to see if it would pick up the path to the file if it was hard coded. I had taken out my php code but left that in by mistake.

Let’s have you post the two links to your themes folder. If needed, you can send them to me by clicking MSG under my avatar.

The server path you sent looks more like a Unix path than a Windows path.

I don’t think that path gets set manually, isn’t it picked up from the installation procedure automatically?

    From php info…

    System -  Windows NT ENVISAGE243 5.2 build 3790

    _SERVER[“PATH_TRANSLATED”]  -  \\ <as I MSG’d you> \mca\index.php

    Go here…http://www.themca.org.uk/themes/forum_themes/default/theme_index.php

It will show you the physical path which is the same as the one in preferences.

What does your system admin (assuming you have one) say about it?
