Excellent!

Excellent. I had been doing views already, so it’s nice to have an official method supported by EllisLab. To clarify tho, it is my understanding that while pre-1.6.8 will be compatible with the new methods, if you create a module with views in 1.6.8, it will not be backwards compatible with 1.6.7 and previous. Am I correct?

Right, if your module uses views, EE 1.6.8 will be the version requirement.

Not sure if I should be posting this here or not, but in the version notes, it says:
Simply find the following code in your ‘smileys’ templates:
Where are these templates? Or is this referring to custom templates that a user might have built (I’ve never used them anyway) which include smileys?
Just double-checking as I don’t want to miss a step if I’m missing something obvious! 😊
Thanks,
Stephen

Aye, Stephen, people using the default templates or a modified version thereof, or similar code in a comments template.

Brilliant, thanks Derek. 😊

Hi,
I changed the code according to
http://expressionengine.com/docs/installation/version_notes_1.6.8.html
But don’t know how to change it in forums, I found just this in post submission form template.

Thanks for that link, Supersusie! Can someone enlighten me on the nature and seriousness of the hole in 1.6.7 by direct message or email so we can allocate resources? Upgrading for us is rather a big deal, and we need to know if this is a “Stay late tonight until this is done” hole or a “Fix this when you run your next set of patches” hole. If we can just know what the hole is, we can decide this for ourselves.
Thanks,
Dan Lovejoy

+1
Is there a mechanism for informing EE customer’s about “important” security updates? Almost a week has passed since the update came out and I found out about this security issue by accident.
Are there any reports of plug-in incompatibilities with 1.6.8? I rely heavily on third-party additions. I often wait a while before upgrading, so that plug-in developer’s have a chance to fix any resulting issues.
Thanks!
