From reading other threads I know that several people have had this issue but I have 128mb of memory which AFAIK should be plenty.

    Here’s the error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 38797312) (tried to allocate 2351 bytes) in /usr/home/ucinat/www/htdocs/blah/extensions/fieldtypes/ngen_file_field/ft.ngen_file_field.php on line 842

Anybody have any ideas on how I can get round this? Its shared hosting so I won’t be able to up the memory. Site has to go live in a couple of days. Argh! :(

    benbailey,

How are you determining you have actually 128mb of memory, in your PHP info?

Or have you set it in your htaccess?

    benbaily,

that is odd as the memory is exhausted before even getting to 40MB

Try and override the memory limit in a htaccess file just for giggles and see if that works.

Create a .htaccess file in your root and add just the following to it

    php_value memory_limit 128M

If that does not work then contact your host and explain the situation

Thanks John. Tried .htaccess with no luck.

Just contacted the host. Will let you know how I go.

Thanks. Let us know if and when they get back to you. As John said, PHP complains about not getting even 40 MB.

The host NEVER got back to me despite several emails. Very unprofessional! Hopefully I can get the client to move away from them.

Out of desperation I had to ditch the nGen field. :(

Thanks for your help guys regardless.
