    HI,

Is there any plan to deliver an upgraded version of CI soon ?
It seems that CI is downgraded by EE…but we are waiting for
too long now…and the bugs in the tracking list seems to increase
every day but new delivery doesn’t seem to reach any target ???

Can someone answer me for a planned date for CI 1.7.x or 1.8.0 ...????

    Thanx.

The move from separate EE and CI software to EE that runs on top of CI makes that CI is now slow until EE has been finalized or when a preview comes out. Read this reaction of Derek Allard.

The EL developers have decided not to set a date for releases. I never knew of a planned release. The only way AFAIK to see when a release is imminent is when the SVN log shows the version changed.

Are there bugs you know that have a high security risk on the bug list? If not fix the bugs that trouble you and wait patiently until the new version is released.

Instead of throwing away the knife when it’s dull, sharpen it.

I think EllisLab should re-release 1.7.1 as 1.8, just so these people will stop asking about a new version or a few months 😉

One company with the name “Microsoft” is enough 😛

@wanadoobtdc: See your own signature (The future is unwritten).

If you peruse the forums, you’ll find that this is an often discussed topic.  Whenever a release has been out for a while, people start asking about new versions.  New versions are released as they are released - and in my own opinion, it’s much more exciting to be greeted with a “CI 1.x.x” is now available” on the spur of the moment without having expected it!

I’ve been using 1.7.1 since it’s been out and I haven’t had any problems that have stopped me from getting anything done.  Are you experiencing problems that stops you from getting something done?  If so, have you tried the SVN version?

I think Yorick is the only one to understand me.😉

@Dam1an : it seems sometimes you just answer to increase your number of post and get the status of Yoda. Anyway what’s new about your project of Project Management System : when the version 0.1 will be out ???

@D13 : Thanx, but when I see the number of pending unresolved in the bug tracking list, I would like things to carry further quicker than to correct bugs myself in the core of CI and to see it washed out by a new version that wouldn’t correct what I have corrected myself…

I never suggested fixing bugs yourself.  I asked a couple of simple questions.  There are ALWAYS going to be bugs - so maybe instead of focusing on staring at the bug list you could just get on with writing some code?  Again, none of the bugs in 1.7.1 have stopped me from getting anything done.

How dare you make such an accusation 😛
I’m just in one of those sarcastic moods, and there have been several threads about a new version of Ci this week already (they always seem to come at once)

Unfortunatly I’ve not even had a chance to think about it for ages! Been so busy with work and other stuff :( Although I finish at IBm end of the week, and my other temp job might have fallen through, which will give me 5 weeks to get a really solid start before going back to uni and officially starting it lol

Oh, and remember—CI is free… maybe be a little more grateful and appreciative for such a kick ass framework that these guys (and gals) put such dedicated work into?

If there is a bug biting you, and you can solve it, then start a forum thread on it and link it in the bug report. If the solution is tested in PHP 4 and 5, written using the same Coding Standards as the rest of CI, doesn’t break compatibility and is vetted by a few members of the community, then it is much more likely to get adopted. I agree with you that bug fixing has been on the back burner of late, apologies - sounds like you are interested in helping the community out here, so consider this a formal invitation to help out, we’d love your involvement.

If there is a thread that meets all my above criteria and I’ve missed it, feel free to email me privately (please don’t privately email me about bugs that don’t meet that criteria, it’ll only slow down the process of getting it implemented).

You’re lucky to get the type of response in this thread that you did, from 5 of the most prolific and well known CI community members - I’d cite that as a reason to start contributing back.

NO don’t release 1.8.0 then I have to upgrade my sites and test! 😊 Seriously, what’s wrong with 1.7.1? What major bugs are effecting you?

Post of the week! although now it looks like I’m guilty of that too.
