    Hi,

    I’m just trying to create a simple comment submission form. I tried using the examples used in the documentation and the comment section of my pages are completely blank. I’ve checked and comments are allowed on the weblog, and for the particular entries. The main problem I have is that nothing shows up between the tags. Even if I throw jibberish in there. Like:

    {exp:comment:form}
    foo
    {/exp:comment:form}

    The foo doesn’t even show up. I’ve thrown in the weblog=”” part. I just don’t get it. All the examples and tutorials I’ve found online make it seem like it should just work. Someone please help.

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, DRUMZ.

    One thing you might not be aware of is that you need to have either an entry id or a url_title passed via the URL.

    Something like this:

    http://example.com/index.php/site/comments/my-first-entry

    I’ll bet you’ve just been viewing the page without anything in the third segment.

    Does that help?

    Thanks, Sue. That makes sense logically. Here’s what I was hoping to acheive. I have a little site for our team at work that I’m allowing people to post notices to so them team kinda knows what went on before they came in that day. Just a simple sentence or two. I want people the be able to comment on the notices with a sort of, “Verified with team.” Or, “Good to know. I’ll make sure to follow up.” I have the latest three notices right on the page, and I was hoping to have a comment box right under each notice. If the comments page has to be it’s own page, then I’m assuming I cannot achieve this?

    Or do I have a separate comment template that get’s called from an embed with a variable passed? Like

    {embed="site/commentform" theurl="{url_title}"}

    And then I’m assuming the comment tag would then be like:

    {exp:comment:form url_title="{embed:theurl}"}
    (form stuff)
    {/exp:comment:form}

    Can that be done? and if so, is my syntax correct?

    Thanks in advance, again…

    You can have comments on an index page as well, but it’s not officially supported. Moving to Howto.

    I went to that link, but I’m not looking to just DISPLAY comments. I want a submission form on there too. Can that be accomplished?

    Thanks

    It could probably be made to work in the same way, but I am not aware of anybody actually having done so.
