In our last update, Les hinted that the next update on ExpressionEngine 2.0’s progress would be more significant than the last few, which have been pretty standard fare, letting you know that we were progressively on the march and happy with where we were.  But this week we’ve crossed a major milestone and I’ve crawled from the icy confines of the Fortress of Solitude to bring you this news:

Great news!  As member of the Pro Network we’ll monitor our mailboxes closely for your mail to arrive… Sad thing (well, not really actually) I’m leaving on holiday next monday, I guess a laptop and the beach is not an ideal combination.

    best regards,
    Tim

This is not right and sneaky.
If I remember correctly requirements were to only have made 5 sites with EE…
Q1: is this done to limit access to 2.0?
Q2: is this done so that requirements were set higher for designers/developers?
Q3: will those who are currently members have to meet new requirements? (sort of be re-tested)

That carrot looks more like a orange cloth on a stick 😊.

On a serious note and IMO, EllisLab should have just posted 1 post admitting to have made the mistake and leave at that until the product is available.

The answer is in the link in your quote.

We’ve had an explosion in application requests over the past several months and frankly, the network is growing too fast. We need to slow it down and rethink the requirements and benefits to ensure that it remains a high quality resource for web professionals and the people looking to hire EE experts.

On a serious note and IMO, EllisLab should have just posted 1 post admitting to have made the mistake and leave at that until the product is available.

That approach has its merits, but our community just wouldn’t stand for it once the cat was out of the bag.  What we’ve done in the past months is a good middle ground.

Not really…it just says that that is what you decided.
It’s ok to say that answer to Q1= Yes.

I know I know cat has been out of the bag so this approach works today...but it is fun to poke developers with a stick, or at least be on the other end of it for a change. 😛
Some day I will get a EE cape too!

Q1 isn’t addressed on that page not to be secretive, but because it had no bearing.  We closed the Pro Network down well before we began planning how the beta would be structured and who would be invited.  They are two completely independent things.
