I am setting up a site on Earthlink that is running Php5 so there tech support said that I have to add .php5 for the files to work. This did work to pull up the installation screen.

But when I go to the next screen, the EE install procedure points to a new page that does not have the .php5 extension (all of the EE steps are not showing up).

    What is the fix here?

    Thanks, Tim

    Tim,

You could try adding a line to your .htaccess first:

    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php5

That should parse all .php and .php5 files as PHP

It seems odd that you host would make you do this though. I have no personal experience with Earthlink and a search on our forums does give more information as to EE experiences with them.

I think the conclusion on a lot of the threads is that Earthlink isn’t really set up to host fully dynamic sites in the way a dedicated hosting provider would be.

Saying that I haven’t investigated their offerings myself.
